Over the last few weeks, ?beat downs? in public eateries have become common. Now the cops have joined in, as a cellphone video from Atlanta posted on YouTube reveals.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Pw-bEwEUvI&feature=player_embedded

The Atlanta Journal Constitution (http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/attorney-cop-used-excessive-926236.html?bigName=YouTube&bigPhotog=YouTube&bigCap=An+off-duty+Atlanta+police+officer+hits+a+woman+during+an +early+morning+altercation+that+was+captured+on+vi deo+and+posted+on+YouTube.+&bigDeclCap=&bigCred=&bigUrl=http://www.ajc.com/multimedia/dynamic/00915/ScreenShot001_915020c.jpg&superSizeImage=y) notes that it is not clear what events preceded the capture of an off-duty cop slugging a woman in the face. It appears he was attempting to either arrest or subdue a patron before he hauled off and slugged a second woman in the face. The cop was working at the restaurant as a security guard.

?The Atlanta Police Department is aware of the incident that took place early Sunday morning involving one of its officers attempting to arrest a patron at an IHOP in Buckhead,? APD told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday. ?The matter has been referred to our Office of Professional Standards to determine whether department policies and procedures were followed. Further comment at this time would not be appropriate.?

Violent cops assaulting men, women, and children has become an all too common and ugly feature of our society over the last few years. It is alarming that the recent videos reveal the increasing violence of young women.

Earlier this week, we were subjected to a video (http://newsone.com/nation/newsonestaff2/mcdonalds-beating-video-fight-transgender/) of a ?transgender? person getting walloped at a McDonald?s in Maryland. Other violent incidents have surfaced lately, including a 2010 video (http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/news/video-released-in-mcnugget-drive-through-beat-down-20100810-mr) of a woman who punched through a McDonald?s drive-through window because she couldn?t get Chicken McNuggets.

at first glance...all i felt was the violence and the atrocity of the action..

as i digest the moment...i am reminded of this womans strength and integrity

as i sit and contemplate.... i reach out and feel the love around me.

weak women punch men also...if a woman is trying to stab me with a knife I wouldn't think twice about punching her...depends on circumstances I guess

I'm sorry my friend, but I can't agree on this one with you......there's no excuse for any real man to ever put his hands on any woman. She's coming at you with a knife?....trust me that I can take from her without resorting to any violence from my part!

Blessings,

I find it hard to believe that a man of his size could not restrain this woman without punching her in the face. Clearly his emotions got the best of him. Got two words for ya - Douche Bag.

Horrible indeed!!! Unfortunately they give badges to people like that who use it as a power trip. I see that all the time.

I live in a small gated lake community, and we have our own police force....

I was having a yard sale with 2 of my other neighbors, and since we live on a quiet cul-de-sac, we put our tables and wares on the side of the street....one of our police officers pulled up so I walked over and said "hi, what's up" and he told me we had to move our tables. I asked "why' and he said..."because I said so"...so I continued to ask why, nicely I might add... (he claimed there was no room for emergency vehicles if that should arise...bs....there was enough room for 2-way traffic..we had folks driving up and down the road with no problem all day....he was also known for pulling up yard sale signs and had pulled up the one we put at the top of the street, which was in a friends front yard) and then he says..."are you arguing with THE officer?" and Im thinking, "you're the only one in the car, I think that's a big yes".....and he just kept saying are you arguing with the officer? and Im just standing there with my mouth open wondering why this cop is talking about himself in third person.. and then he starts to get out of the car like he's going to cuff me or something....so my husband grabs me and told him there was no problem here, we'll pull the tables away.

So if you come across a cop speaking of himself in the third person....sloowwly back away...

LETS TAKE IT INTO CONTEXT HERE IS A COP WORKING AS A SECURITY GUARD . She has done nothing in the video to warrant being punched in the face and u have the lawful right to use what ever force you deem necessary to protect your self. She after being hit she swings back as is her right . The cop is not working as a police officer and only as a security guard assaulting an officer charge cannot be laid. She can sue both him the force and the city for assault as the cop was wearing his uniform which means he was representing the city.

There is a time coming folks where this is going to be unacceptable and to stand there an remain uninvolved wrong

One good thing --

If you do somethings like this these days, it will likely be filmed and put on the internet within 30 minutes.

I am actually amazed at how much he telegraphed the punch. He cocked his arm back and very directly hit her.

He also hits like a weakling.

Pathetic.

Anyone seen "once were warriors"? A new Zealand film? I worked in my early years as a musician in these type of places that is portrayed in this movie...Im telling you, i have witness woman with guns, knives, bottles, billard cues and balls, full on blood, full on attacking, as much as men...in this case I agree with Krystic, you have to protect yourself or you will be harmed, seriously.

Once I had a woman full on attack me, I had to take a protective stance to save my ass...i didnt punch her, but certainly had to end up in a full on combated wrestling move to subdue her, she was as dangerous as any man could ever be.

However the cop is a wanker, a total tool and a bully.

Ross.

In most places, if that was a husband that hit his wife in public, he would be arrested...

Guess the uniform is magic

Is it any wonder the Police have such a bad name when you have wan**rs like this among them?
Speaking from experience, a genuinely good cop is a rare thing (in UK anyhow) it takes a 'certain type' (in their view)to do that job and if your not that type you are quickly forced out by your peers. SAD.

While I do agree with your observation of the excessive use of force upon the woman. What I do not think was smart on her part was to touch the police officer. As with some fighters, soldiers, and police, they are so trained and conditioned to react when someone touches them that it becomes a matter of instinct before thought. (In the military they say, if you have to think about it, you're already dead)

Maybe she didn't know. The cop should be able to show some restraint but I don't recommend the woman's approach when interacting with law enforcement.

Kind Regards

I also noticed he had his arm round her neck and throat at one point....then physically forced to the floor...the lady in question was face down....
A very brutal finish...indeed...regardless...of what the lady had imposed upon him....Oh! my.....

I would think with the benefit of training, he would put thought before instinct.
