Hi all,
Here is Mans quest to not only understand the "Atomic power Science" but his quest in controlling it....
Every atom within us and everything around us was made in the heart of a star (Sun) and all was made from the same starting ingredient.
The simplest element we have is Hydrogen and it is the building block for all the other elements we have.
In the heart of the Sun, Hydrogen nuclei protons are stuck together to make Helium. It sounds straightforward but it can only happen in the most extreme conditions. In order for these protons to come together, as they are both positively charged, they don?t want to come together so they actually have to be pushed together. In order to do this you need very high temperatures so they move very fast and you also need very high pressures.
The only part of the Sun that is hot and dense enough to do this is the core, an area that contains half of the Suns mass in less than 2% of its volume. Here at fifteen million degrees the protons are bashed together so hard that they fuse. A helium nucleus is a tiny bit lighter than the combined mass of the 4 protons it is made from and as Einstein tells us it is this tiny bit of lost mass that provides the power. Energy is equal to mass multiplied by the speed of light and then multiplied by the speed of light again (E=MC squared) and the speed of light is a very big number. So if we take a small amount of Mass we get a huge amount of energy and that is the energy that powers our sun.
Every second, 5 million tons of the Sun is converted to pure energy and although it has been burning for 5 Billion years it is only half way through its supply of Hydrogen.
The light produced at the core must travel over 500,000km to the surface and it does so very slowly. The heart of the Sun is so dense that the speed of light is less than 1millimetre per second. It can take over 200,000 years for the light to travel from the core to the surface; it takes just another 8 minutes to reach Earth.
This is what the power of nuclear fusion looks like from 150,000,000km away. The H-bomb was mans first attempt at recreating the Sun on Earth. A balloon full of Hydrogen squeezed until it released its energy.
In contrast to its destructive power its long been realized that controlled Nuclear fusion could solve the worlds energy problems?.Yeah right, until its goes seriously wrong?
It has been one of the holy grails of Science for half a century? You can see why Man wanted to understand this creation, it is amazing, anyway you look at it, but Man is far from being in control of such Power.

Ross

- this is a slight digression, please bare with me, it is just
one of those thing one come across when searching for
sun-related stuff on the net, and feel it should be shared.
..
A spanish woman (Angeles Duran) has laid "legal" claim
to the sun
A canny Spanish woman from Galicia - a sun-drenched region on the border with Spain and Portugal - has decided that she owns the star, and has the registration papers to prove it.
Angeles Duran, 49, says that the sun officially belongs to her now, having had the celestial body registered in her name at a local notary office.
- so maybe we do need to create a new one ...

Good Morning Ross!
Hi all,

In the heart of the Sun, Hydrogen nuclei protons are stuck together to make Helium. It sounds straightforward but it can only happen in the most extreme conditions. In order for these protons to come together, as they are both positively charged, they don’t want to come together so they actually have to be pushed together. In order to do this you need very high temperatures so they move very fast and you also need very high pressures.
The only part of the Sun that is hot and dense enough to do this is the core, an area that contains half of the Suns mass in less than 2% of its volume. I'm not sure the hydrogen fusion model of the Sun is tenable anymore. The better hypothesis, which has yet to be properly embraced by the physics establishment, e.g. for it is less problematic wrt the observed data than is the fusion model ... is the electric model.
beginExcerpt
In this day and age there is no longer any doubt that electrical effects in plasmas play an important role in the phenomena we observe on the Sun. The major properties of the "Electric Sun (ES) model" are as follows:
Most of the space within our galaxy is occupied by plasma (rarefied ionized gas) containing electrons (negative charges) and ionized atoms (positive charges). Every charged particle in the plasma has an electric potential energy (voltage) just as every pebble on a mountain has a mechanical potential energy with respect to sea level. The Sun is surrounded by a plasma cell that stretches far out - many times the radius of Pluto. These are facts not hypotheses.
The Sun is at a more positive electrical potential (voltage) than is the space plasma surrounding it - probably in the order of 10 billion volts.
Positive ions leave the Sun and electrons enter the Sun. Both of these flows add to form a net positive current leaving the Sun. This constitutes a plasma discharge analogous in every way (except size) to those that have been observed in electrical plasma laboratories for decades. Because of the Sun's positive charge (voltage), it acts as the anode in a plasma discharge. As such, it exhibits many of the phenomena observed in earthbound plasma experiments, such as anode tufting. The granules observed on the surface of the photosphere are anode tufts (plasma in the arc mode).
The Sun may be powered, not from within itself, but from outside, by the electric (Birkeland) currents that flow in our arm of our galaxy as they do in all galaxies. This possibility that the Sun may be exernally powered by its galactic environment is the most speculative idea in the ES hypothesis and is always attacked by critics while they ignore all the other explanatory properties of the ES model. In the Plasma Universe model, these cosmic sized, low-density currents create the galaxies and the stars within those galaxies by the electromagnetic z-pinch effect. It is only a small extrapolation to ask whether these currents remain to power those stars. Galactic currents are of low current density, but, because the sizes of the stars are large, the total current (Amperage) is high. The Sun's radiated power at any instant is due to the energy imparted by that amperage. As the Sun moves around the galactic center it may come into regions of higher or lower current density and so its output may vary both periodically and randomly.
end
Basically, the Sun receives its energy from outside and re-radiates it. The electric model (proposed by Ralph Juergens in 1949) appears to be consistent with one of the more remarkable observations of the Sun, namely, that of million degree Kelvin temperatures in the corona several hundred kilometers above the surface of the Sun, than on the surface itself which has temperatures in the order of a few thousand degrees! There are several websites that detail how this temperature gradient is achieved with electrogmanetic principles. If interested, I will find those arguments and post them here.
Anyways, have a read and let us know what you think.

Thank you for that post Zook. Tesla was the first to put that model on the drawing board in the late 1900s. He considered the sun to be an extremely positively charged electrostatic entity. This theory was constructed within the existing (at the time) meta theory...The Electromagnetic Theory of Nature.
If you then think of the earth as a negatively charged entity (remember it is our earth -)....then the solar wind or plasma ejection from the sun has a natural flow between sun and earth....and can be seen as current flow.
Tesla's View:
The Earth's Electrostatic Charge
Tesla's intent was to condense the energy trapped between the earth and its upper atmosphere and to transform it into an electric current. He pictured the sun as an immense ball of electricity, positively charged with a potential of some 200 billion volts. The earth, on the other hand, is charged with negative electricity. The tremendous electrical force between these two bodies constituted, at least in part, what he called cosmic energy. It varied from night to day and from season to season but it is always present.
The positive particles are stopped at the ionosphere and between it and the negative charges in the ground, a distance of 60 miles, there is a large difference of voltage - something on the order of 360,000 volts. With the gases of the atmosphere acting as an insulator between these two opposite stores of electrical charges, the region between the ground and the edge of space traps a great deal of energy. Despite the large size of the planet, it is electrically like a capacitor which keeps positive and negative charges apart by using the air as a non-conducting material as an insulator.
The earth has a charge of 96,500 coulombs. With a potential of 360,000 volts, the earth constitutes a capacitor of .25 farads (farads = coulombs/volts). If the formula for calculating the energy stored in a capacitor (E =1/2CV2) is applied to the earth, it turns out that the ambient medium contains 1.6 x 1011 joules or 4.5 megawatt-hours of electrical energy. In order to utilize this high-voltage energy you must do two things -- make an energy sink and then devise a way of making the "sink" oscillate.

Tesla was the first to propose this model.
The positive particles are stopped at the ionosphere and between it and the negative charges in the ground, a distance of 60 miles, there is a large difference of voltage - something on the order of 360,000 volts. This is the earth modeled as a capacitor.

In every age the man apples the most advanced technology know to him to the inner workings of the sun.
Burning embers.
Gas
Nuclear fusion technology
Those are but steps.
Then again, those steps do tell much about our world-view.
See, in all those models the sun as a Source is finite, and by definition it need to consume the fuel in order to live.. but eventually it will run out of it and succumb to frozen embrace of the space.
The world outside is but a reflection of worlds within.
The sun might run on fusion from our POV.. but this in not necessarily the state we wish it to be for long time
Electric universe is step in right direction.. but only the first one.
