INCREDIBLE SUNSPOT AR1429: Big sunspot AR1429, the source of so many strong flares and geomagnetic storms earlier this month, is still erupting. The active region produced a significant coronal mass ejection on March 24th at 00:39 UT. Because of the sunspot's location on the far side of the sun, this particular CME will not hit Earth. An animated forecast track prepared by analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab shows the trajectory of the expanding cloud:



The leading edge of the CME is expected to arrive at the STEREO-B spacecraft on March 25th at 13:08 UT (+/- 7 hours). None of the inner planets will be affected.

Since March began, sunspot AR1429 has propelled CMEs into every corner of the solar system, stirring up stormy space weather around every planet and spacecraft. If the sunspot remains active for another week or so, it will turn back toward Earth for a new round of geoeffective eruptions. Stay tuned.

"The most powerful flare ever observed was the first one to be observed, on September 1, 1859, and was reported by British astronomer Richard Carrington and independently by an observer named Richard Hodgson. The event is named the Solar storm of 1859, or the "Carrington event". The flare was visible to a naked-eye (in white light), and produced stunning auroras down to tropical latitudes such as Cuba or Hawaii, and set telegraph systems on fire.[11] The flare left a trace in Greenland ice in the form of nitrates and beryllium-10, which allow its strength to be measured today (New Scientist, 2005). Cliver & Salvgaard (2004) reconstructed the effects of this flare and compared with other events of the last 150 years. In their words: While the 1859 event has close rivals or superiors in each of the above categories of space weather activity, it is the only documented event of the last ∼150 years that appears at or near the top of all of the lists.
In modern times, the largest solar flare measured with instruments occurred on November 4, 2003. This event saturated the GOES detectors, and because of this its classification is only approximate. Initially, extrapolating the GOES curve, it was pegged at X28.[12] Later analysis of the ionospheric effects suggested increasing this estimate to X45.[13] This event produced the first clear evidence of a new spectral component above 100 GHz.[14] Other large solar flares also occurred on April 2, 2001 (X20),[15] October 28, 2003 (X17.2 & X10),[16] September 7, 2005 (X17),[17] February 17, 2011 (X2).[18][19][20] and August 10, 2011 (X6.9).[21] In 1989, during solar cycle 22 two large flares occurred on March 6 (X15) (see: March 1989 geomagnetic storm) and August 16 (X20) causing disruptions in electric grids and computer systems."

And from my own personal perspective (and intuition), the significance of this current sun cycle, is that it is occurring during our solar systems closest approach to the center of our Milky Way galaxy (called the Galactic Alignment). For many of us (who have awoken and are becoming fully conscious of this great cosmic event), now - is a magnificent opportunity of breaking free from this (current) low vibrational dualistic polarity (3D) existence. It is also of my opinion, that the high light energies (called photons) emitting from the center of our galaxy (and sun) are likened to cosmic manna bombarding us with a DNA upgrades - allowing us to transcend along with this living wondrous entity called Mother Gaia !

Greetings Jeanette,
It wasn't until the summer of 2009 that i really began noticing (and associating) the affects of solar activity particularly upon my being. But now (for me) there is no doubt( this particular) solar cycle 24 - is having a very real transformational (DNA) effect upon my mind and body. i do feel and believe my body is now going through a physiological change of some kind... With these most recent (combined) 2 CME's - which are now bombarding us - have left me sort of dazed and (sometimes winded) with an awfully aching body... Though i am not currently ill with any flu or cold bugs etc... Note ~ below is an excellently intuitive article that will give some insights as well as (perhaps) resonate with you and others here...

Note ~ Current solar activity is low with none of these sunspots actively flaring...


Also note ~ a CME expected to reach Earth on April 4th is overdue. The cloud might have missed or maybe it's running late. Mindful of a possible impact, NOAA forecasters estimate a 15% chance of polar geomagnetic storms on April 5th.solar activity is low...
