    Re: Early bird coffee chat

Was clearing away branches in our back yard and found a rose bush.. with one bud on it..

    Pale+Pink+Rosebud.jpg

Unsure of the health of the plant I snipped the bud and brought her in...

the bud was very tight and i wasnt sure she would bloom

but low and behold the next morning... she was in full bloom

You have a beautiful bud , dear dex, may she bloom forever!

Thank you Celine, that is simply lovely. I hope you are enjoying your singular rose (I'm enjoying mine).

I'm up for 5 am feeding, so it's super early bird chat for me! Coffee will be a big part of my day, for sure!

It's been cool and rainy, so that has been good for the greens I planted. Hopefully my friend helping build the tree garden bed will be available to finish soon so that I can plant those flowers. Then again, gardens unfold in their own time; no sense in pushing things.

    Thanks Celine,

There are no non-traditional Doctors here in the boonies so will just keep putting one foot ahead of the other and one day I will again be pain free>>>>>>>>>>seems Fibro just has a process once triggered (just have to explore what caused it to trigger after 3 years of no attacks ??) Must be something I'm not aware of and sitting on emotionally so will explore this avenue and try some release techniques

Your support and concern is very much appreciated and valued as it brings me joy and lessen the pain

Baby shower with BBQ and booze? Awesome! I loved my shower, but it was all quiche, pink napkins and fruit punch.

Speaking of baby showers: the baby industry is such a consumer trap! They sell a product for every baby "problem". Bouncers if they cry (god forbid), special diapers with aloe, swings to help them sleep, the diaper genie (envelopes individual soiled diapers in plastic!)...before you know it, you have a home full of plastic crap given by well-meaning friends and family. And the cloths! They are cute, but since babies outgrow them so fast, I much prefer hand-me-downs.

And then there's the over-medicalization of birth! Don't get me started. Parents-to-be often treat labor and delivery like passive consumers -- a service they are consuming, not a process they can take charge of if they are willing to educate themselves and go against the tide.

The baby industry is like the wedding industry. In both, everything is specialized and marked-up. Both inspire these showers where ladies ooh and ahh over the crappily-made junk they exchange. Both occasions bring the expectation that you will register for a bunch of aforementioned crap at some giant chain store. Both marriage and having a baby bring a lot of anxiety for most. I think so many people shop away their worries -- obsessing over the costly window dressings to avoid processing very uncomfortable questions like: will he love me forever? are we actually compatible? how can I maintain my identity? will we be good parents? how can we prepare best for birth? etc.

The shopping, wrapping and unwrapping of these shiny new things keeps us asleep to the realities of marriage and kids. No wonder so many people feel overwhelmed; having gone into these profound bonds blindfolded and numbed by spending sprees.

    Re: Early bird coffee chat

Up and at 'em. Long night of interrupted sleep necessitates coffee! Stat!

When I read a bunch of stuff on Nexus (and via links), I often dream about it. Does that happen to anyone else? This stuff can really get lodged in my brain and I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not! I don't usually remember the specifics of the dreams; just that it is related to forum content.

most of the time in odd ways...

like zombies sitting in a cafe etc

interupted sleep? little rosebud not sleeping nights?

She usually only wakes up only 2 or 3 times to be fed and changed and then falls back asleep right away, but last night she was very active and it took a long time for her to go back to sleep. Luckily, my husband is wonderful with her and he helps a lot. In general, she's a very peaceful girl. Every day is different though -- just when we think we have her figured out, she changes it up on us!

My little garden is not progressing as I had hoped. The person helping me build the bed seems to have given up half way through the job. I can't plant the flowers that I want to until the bed is built, so things are on hold. Though my sprouting kale and chard are doing great in the planter.

    Re: Early bird coffee chat

Here is some tricks i used , to help alter sleep patterns..

    - Change bed position. Try to make sure feet are not pointed towards a window or door.

    - Put lavender in the bedroom

    - Classical music (vivaldi was my choice

    - And if you are breast feeding, drink a couple of cups of chamomille tea about two hours before her "last feeding"

Sad to hear about your garden.... do you have buckets? flowers/veggies grow well in buckets

Our garden is doing great! we sit out there daily and "watch it grow"

    Good morning ladies.

Congratulations Dex! You will have so much fun with your little daughter as she grows up.

I have a tiny little townhouse yard with a very shady area for a garden, but after three years I have cultivated a little paradise--with lots of Impatience (the flower not the emotion) and Fuscia in hanging baskets. I covered the tall fence with Golden Hops and Clematis. The ground cover has been a problem--I wanted to cover with moss (low maintenance)but I've learned that around here moss is EVERYWHERE except for where you want it.

    Have a good day!

Mom came close by to get a god look at us... but she did not feel threatned ..

The serene beauty of a family working together was breathtaking..

    bet you do too

or is the little one demanding you to be up?
She usually needs to eat sometime around 5 am. We usually go back to sleep after, but here I am. I can't tell you how many posts I've read while burping her and her snoozing on my shoulder after (as she is now). You know that cozy feeling, I'm sure. So sweet!

Yes, I love the sun rise. One good thing about living in a large apartment building is that we can see the sun both rise and set. We can see it rise from bed and if it were up to me, we would keep the shades open always and greet the rosy fingers of the dawn daily. That said, I am actually not a morning person. I like awakening to the pink glow of the sunrise and then allowing it to drench my hazy dreams as I fall back asleep for a few hours (depending on the season).

Yesterday I decided not to wait for my friend to finish building the garden bed and I finally planted the morning glory seeds I had bought months ago. I planted them around the tree, envisioning that they will eventually climb it; probably with help from some string. Still need to buy and plant herbs for the planter. I'm having fun with my itty bitty garden!

    Re: Early bird coffee chat

I love the sunrise too, but haven't seen it for over a week now as the clouds and rain hang over the district daily. I miss the sunshine so much

Last night before I went to bed at 1:30 am I looked out my east window and lo and behold there was a quarter moon 1/4 of the way up the sky and it was very orange???? I found this to be very strange and even got my binoculars out to have a better look and sure enough it was our moon. I don't know enough about the moon but know for sure it was the first time I saw an ORANGE one??

Anyone know what is up with that??
