    BETTER THAN I LOVE YOU

    Better than

    I Love You

    words we've heard

    too many say,

    is keep silent

    and let the Light

    come through

    that reveals

    depth of Love

    by what we do

    Re: The Nexian Poets

Do you think i do this because i want to?
    That i show up
    day in
    day out
    cause i like you?
    I've come to get
what none of us can live without.
    So give it,
    give it,
    please
    give me my treat
    for
    Behaving as expected,
    for
    Following your rules.

And i'll crawl back, every couple weeks or so,
    when i'm starving,
    or just wanting,
or else too numb to care
that it's my dignity you're buying, my soul you drain away
    in little eight-hour slices,
    to feed your death machines.

But now i'm done with you, my friend
    as in the murky gloom
    a beacon
    is a-shinin'
and the warm light bathes my face
    drying all the tears
    quieting the shame
    replacing it with holy calm,
    and Godlike confidence

    as i move nearer
    to see the clearer
    the light i love...
    it's just a mirror.

fear us, for we are the light.

    Ode To Nexus

Fat upon me the diamond drill
    of the Avalonian plant,
last week strolling fast and free,
    feet light around the ant
    (insect adorned by autocracy,
    exhorted by the buzzing bees,
    ignited by the royal deed of a new Camelot conspired;
    heated by the sooting fire
    - releasing air like burning tires -
from the blackened mix of vanity, insanity,
    misunderstanding of humility,
a tyrant's share of insecurity and the failed quest for a lofty pail,
    the holy grail of integrity).

Making long pole of the knowledge tree
    with a hacking axe backed
    by the apocryphal hives in the apiary, is prerogative;
but then to set the welcome mat
to free opinion as the day before
and open shop for fair discourse
... is at best, a mock of truth, at worst, mendacity.

Reassembled on the line of time
in fresh space with a gentle clime,
    as before with new sublime.
Months chiseled for design by sculptors wearing high degrees
    and infants banging tannic pots
    whilst singing bits of babble songs;
my time has come to belong again
with friends and fellow country gents,
the meadow larks and vibrant wrens
of courage and community: where the buzz is found and lost
in the brightness of the Sun
and the vastness of the flower field.

Ode To The Crown Of Camelot

Please help me fix the fallen horn
this horse was once a unicorn
that flew on wings with hue of milk
    and a touch as smooth as China silk;
had bumped into a mountain goat
that jumped to claim the ledge, I quote:
"Get off this rock, it's mine to own,
go find yourself a lower stone!"

The son of Uther of Pendragon, see,
did fire the air for distant winds,
some of which still blow today
in the heated breath of descendant kings:
    ecstatic fools without domain
whose attic is an addled brain
held static in a timeless rain.
Thus in the fog of Father Time
    you'll find the mist of Avalon;
but unlike the lake that delivers swans
you'll see instead a pond encrowned
with scum, and to the cousin nasal town
a footbridge built with the arse of skunks.

She met him on the staircase as the gallery was closing.
noting as the passed him that tears welled in his eyes,
And turning she called softly "Why Sir, you are the painter
Why then are you grieving, are your dreams not realised ?"

And she said "God will be kind to the poets and the painters,
God will be kind to those who used his mind,

"Once I was enamoured of the muse that he had sent me
I delighted in her courting and worked unceasingly.
I was feted and I was flattered but by degrees
    unfaithful
I didn't even notice when she deserted me"

"But God looks down and laughs at me,
Still God looks down and laughs at me".

One of my favorites, copied over from Avalon,
(i'm sure those that read it there wont mind reading it again ;-)

The Man In The Glass (Dale Wimbrow, 1895-1954)

When you get what you want in your struggle for self, and the world makes you king for a day,
    Just go to the mirror and look at yourself, and see what that man has to say;
    For it isn't your father or mother or wife, whose judgment upon you must pass;
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life is the one staring back from the glass.

    Some people might think you're a straight-shootin' chum and call you a wonderful guy;
But the Man in the Glass says you're only a bum if you can't look him straight in the eye.
He's the fellow to please -- never mind all the rest -- he's with you all the way to the end,
And you've already passed your most dangerous test if the guy in the glass is your friend.

    You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years and get pats on the back as you pass;
But your final reward will be heartache and tears ... if you've cheated the Man in the Glass!

    Re: The Nexian Poets

    Aquarian Clown, Aquarian Down

I laughed at the mess and the ruin
    in my mind;
    put feet with the dance
    to the tune in my spine;
    filled a large blue balloon
    and released it to shine
in the Sun on the noon
    over salad and wine
... the tide wet the dunes
    splashing kelp with the brine;
    she walked too soon
    leaving kiss undefined,
and me in my gloom - the stars unaligned.
So back to the room I saunter subsumed
with the mock of the loon
    on my back and unkind,
and the light of the Moon
    with purpose to find.

    Re: The Nexian Poets

a poem by me, written after coming out of a "dark night of the soul"

    Stillness.... by jendayi

As i sit here, I see my reflection in the liquid of life...
Waves entering the pool of my being.
    Distorting what i see.

As i sit here, I look upon the lessons, hidden within my strife.
Ripples of doubt in the pond of my way...
    Infecting what i feel.

As i lay me down on the banks of my river,
I hear the voices of the stream...
    Calling me to light....
As i turn around on my back when it shivers,
    I say....
"Be still, friends of my dream, just leave me for the night"

I rush through my anger, my tears, my despair...
For the lust of this place answers no prayer.
I look at my pride, my sorrow, my fear...
    And suddenly...
It is all so simple and clear

    As i stand here,
I see my resurrection in the mirror of all...
Wisdom touches the heart of my being...
    Enhancing what i see.

    As i stand here,
I look upon the sparkles, just as i recall...
Shimmers of love in the night of my day...
    Knowing what i feel.

I see within me, a light ever shining.
A candle so bright, it burns down my plight.
I welcome my shadow, standing beside me.
A power so strong, it survives through the night.

    My life is my own.
    I travel through time...
Entering spheres of solitude and stepping outside to play...

    My mind is my own.
    I venture inside...
Entering spaces of gratitude and spending a moment to pray...

    My fear is my own.
    I travel through hell..
Passing scenes so desolate, created by my pain...

    My body is my own.
    I know it too well..
Enjoying life so elegant, dancing in the rain...

    My heart is my own.
    Free to caress...
    Living dreams so passionate,
    created by my love..

    My soul is my own.
    Here to express...
    Make known the unknown..
    from vulture to dove

    My darkness is my own..
it shares it's life with me.
    Blending with the night,
    I move in total hiding...

    My brightness is my own..
as all ways it shall be.
    Spreading wings of light...
    the stillness of the gliding...

    As i sit here,
i see my reflection in the liquid of life...
waves moving through the pool of my being...
    adding to what i see..

    As i sit here,
i look upon the essence and the reason of my strife...
Ripples of insight in the pond of my way...
    To answer what i feel..

As I rest and replenish, at the banks of my river,
I hear the voice of my dream, sharing it's light.
Now I lay on my side, for I no longer shiver...
    I say.....
"Don't worry my friend, I'm at peace with the night"

    Zookiemonster,

I enjoyed the spirit and cadence of the above poem... esp
"in the Sun on the noon
    over salad and wine
... the tide wet the dunes
    splashing kelp with the brine;"

    Re: The Nexian Poets

    Hello Nexus,

the poetry section seems like a good place to post something for the first time here at Nexus... I miss the days when I used to perform in poetry slams with some serious hard core poets... good to see the spirit moving people here...

I have followed Project Avalon and Camelot since the earliest days, but never posted.
found this site in a garden of delight and now I raise my glass long toasted
cheers to all who put truth first and value its contradictions
peace to the path worth separating fact from fictions
though I think we might all be better guided to go within
perhaps the without is the same when in macro the micro begins...

I actually don't write much poetry these days unless it is with music, so I will share this song I made with my band in NYC.... the vid is from footage I took 9/12/01 at "ground zero"... the song just channeled feelings about the event...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmuqabWk-yc

    blessings to all,

    DEV

    Out in my garden
    the dandelion seeds dance
    bereft of awareness
    afloat by divine happenstance.

Oh take me to that place
    where the dandelion arose
    and let loose its seedlings
when the mild wind began to blow.

    My mind filled with questions
    about the nature of things
does the lark in the tree
    choose for whom it sings?

Oh take me to that place
    where the mind can unfurl
    it?s branches of thought
    in the ?un-knowing? world.

    Re: The Nexian Poets

    Integrity

    Integrity is not a sea
    that dances with the wind
nor is a rock that cracks with ease
    - like shale -
or snaps in two like twigs assailed
by the rabbit's run from the fox's grin.

    Integrity does not bend
to make space for cherished family
    or friend relation
    nor is a means to an end station;
it doesn't wallow in riches or ruins,
nor band for the sake of mutual boon
either in a public place or a house co-owned
(where the air can be hot to the floor of the attic
with the wails and the whistles of excited larks
and the wiles and the bristles of the melodramatic).

    Neither brotherkind to bombast
    nor country kin to serenity,
mine eyes have seen the glory of integrity
in the strangest builds of humanity.
    Not a game between
but an aim to reach - like honesty and dignity -
    together three, the pure quintessence of nobility;
spread from keep to castle keep,
too, from sweep to chimney sweep
with a premium on falutin' words
and a sale on acts of decency.

To ye who hold the fire of speech
in lieu of things to teach
do not appropriate the sacred light
    and its warm embracing heat;
look to Prometheus and his plight
    and find your bended knee.
Never too late to make amends, my friends,
    for making farce of integrity.

    Re: The Nexian Poets

    I ask you this...

    Where is the (hu)man
    who has lost sight
    to see
    what it is
    that brought him here?

    Why are the ears
    on constant alert
    to hear
    new instruments playing
    to pacify his ego?

Which word, which thought, which idea
is simply a surface reflection reaching out
    to touch
    that which ultimately
    slips into the ether?

    Who composed the internal mechanisms
    which relishes
    to taste
    the nectar of bliss
    of a truthful tongue?

How deeply silent must you be
to hear the yearning heart calling
    to feel
    the vibration of love
that the universe gives of itself so freely?

    Mergers On The Penny Plan

In this world of skirts and pants
    tailored for the moment dance
I worry about the state of romance
for in the unit mind of lovers
plants that used to find their norm
on the perfect climb of flowers

    Re: The Nexian Poets

    They say an intellectual
is one who is lost sensible
with ideas of more import than people!

Is it ego or pure thought
    dancing with mental wrought
    overlooking right from ought?

    Dither Dither
truth with compassion seems to bubble most
    whither whither
with a smile I'll hang my hat on a garden post...

    Shazambo! Concrescence!
Tomatos, carrots and beehives in a swirling mental coast...

    Re: The Nexian Poets

I recently wrote a song whose lyrics were inspired somewhat by avalonian stuff plus my own research into child rearing:

    Traffic from flowers

    Lions and Eagles
    already know
    the esoteric and the hidden...
    Golden Eagles soar!
    Every truth is forbidden...
    Honor man, child inside...
    take me to the stars!
Men of dignity boys of truth!
    Let us surpass generations!
    Women of beauty!
    Give birth to constellations!

    Ow!

Jacob, oh, Jacob: teach me how to fly!
Near death experience: a reason not to die!

Mary, oh Mary, I know you forgive me!
Two girls laughing, pointing at the sea!

    Oh!

    We're all free!

    ...Hey James...
    ...nowhere...
    ...we wait for assignment...
    Traffic doesn't make a sound...
They pick us up and bring us 'round...
    Ahkenaten is in town...

    Traffic from flowers!
    Traffic from flowers!
    Traffic from flowers!

    ...Doesn't make a sound...

    "...the map is the treasure..."
    there is no other...
    "...the map is the treasure..."
if you find me then you'll know...
    "...the map is the treasure..."

Oh, let our fertility be good upon the universe
and blow from the earth like a gentle breeze carries pollen...

    Traffic from flowers

    ...doesn't make a sound...

    Ode to acumen

    O conscious mind
    in habitual measure
    bucketloads of naught
    a frivolous feather.

    Be still the judge
    of mental impressions
    integrity radar
    discerning myopic deceptions.

    Cast out the beast
    of untamed imaginations
    substitute sagacity
    of bodhi realization.

    Re: The Nexian Poets

I didn't know this was going to be so distressing to people... but I am pretty unaware of the full politic of what you all have been through... I kind of stopped checking on avalon as much when I saw the Charles thing come out... speaking of "myopic deceptions"... you all seem a bit shell-shocked... I don't know why I decided to check in here, perhaps cuz I never trusted Avalon for it's "project"... and I think the name nexus2012 is not very imaginative, which made me think it might be sincere

I wrote the song I posted five years ago... I stand by it, more or less... and as another singer I like sang: "Grace comes with tryin..."

open your hearts people claiming to be poets! you will see it is not always so dark!

but I have a different spirit than most

and always a sense of humor!

    shazambo!

    Re: The Nexian Poets

I have knelt before the storm
and given myself to the heavens.
My broken body has been dragged across the rocks
    of a trepid shore.
The wind, my old friend, has blown me away,
piece by piece, grain by grain,
    until there has been nothing left;
    nothing for the birds,
or the stabbings of dark hearts
But even still there is beauty
    from within my nothingness.

My heart has lain upon an alter,
    been crucified again and again!
And still there is light within the darkness,
    stars within the night

I have died again and over,
    have died so many times!
Yet from that crumpled visage I am always resurrected
by the relentless crashing of the waves
    from the bottom of myself.
From that sweet abyss I return
    refreshed,
    thinking,
    defiant,
    UNDENYABLE

I have been down to the bottom the well and found myself not alone,
    not destroyed,
    but at peace and one.
Eyes of steel, ink and blood!

    And something else....

    Every twisted drop of humanity
tightly wound within this mortal coil,
unceasing, ever changing, ever being, and I,
    A pitch-black varnished witness
    to deepest night,
    from the ocean of truth,
have worked a secret message with my hands
    into your dusty Christian feet.

That you are a feather in a hurricane.

    Re: The Nexian Poets

    Mother's Day And Father's Way

I feel like a man in a city being bombed,
    not sure what or who or whether to alarm;
or if my dignity will permit me
    to stay much longer, for intents and purposes, embalmed;
perhaps divinity will release me from this foxhole
and push me past the field of flagpoles
(where fresh white banners rise up daily
to comfort the old ones flying there)
... to find the other side and serenity
in natural Earth colors and airs.

    I want to act now
before kinship with mass surrender becomes obligatory
and those of us accommodated for so long
(singing to the wind above the hollow, the eternal song
of a maiden in plight, a straight-charging knight, and the curve
of Grace on the wings of the swan)
... will be handed to the dragon for a bite.
    But how?

    The answer I'll find, I'm sure, if I stay the course;
hold fear by the scruff and push its chest against the wall,
hold dear to the words in times like these to recall:
"The intrepid man is a cubic rock
whilst the coward moves like a rolling ball."
Perhaps not exactly what he actually said,
but in essence that's what my father fed.
And 'though not hearing the voice any longer
    - the years have been cruel to my ears, to my brain -
but not to my eyes which have gotten stronger
and see my father standing brave
reminding me to hang in there.

    Re: The Nexian Poets

    Around the Bend

    I drain my brain
    to erase all pain
as I stare into the sun

    a bizarre occurrence
    testing endurance
    holding onto a smoking gun

    barrel holds a hallow shell
I trust that you won't tell
    I can't erase what's been done

So I look to the future
    exposing wounds to suture
just trying to have some fun

    and I'll get my kicks
    as time slowly ticks
    minutes fading one by one

    until that day
    I go my own way
knowing I had a good run

It's time for but the next great adventure
It's finally time to go home
