Sir Alec Kirkbride - A Request

Hey guys and girls... bit of a long shot here but thought I may as well give it a go!

Sir Alec Kirkbride is related to me in some way.. not sure how as the information about my family is pretty sketchy but this information came from my grandmother.. she's now passed on so I am unable to corroborate any details on his exact tie in.

I know only what information is available on the internet about him and that information is quite minimal. I've yet to read his books that he had published:

A Crackle of Thorns: Experiences in the Middle East - 1956
An Awakening: The Arab Campaign 1917-1918 - 1971
From the Wings: Amman Memoirs, 1947-1951 - 1976

    Alec's activities included:

    Deputy resident of Transjordan 1927-1937 / 1939-1946
Establishing and presiding the National Government of Moab
Governor of Acre and the district of Galilee
    Advisor to King Abdullah
Ambassador of Great Britain to Amman
    British Ambassador to Libya 1952-1954
Director of the British Bank of the Middle East

If there is anybody who knows absolutely anything about Alec or has some details that would help me to understand more about him then I would be seriously appreciative of the feedback. He seems like a fascinating and rather important person with regards to British interests in the middle east and I really would like to learn more about him.

    Thanks

Re: Sir Alec Kirkbride - A Request

    Hey,

Almost a year since you posted this, but, if you still visit these forums I will leave a reply just in case. My grandmother was Sir Alec's cousin. We don't any contact with that side of the family but we do have then on our family trees, in fact recently our family tree was updated and I saw mention of that side of the family.

Let me know if I can offer any help.

    D

*edit: this means we are related - although probably distantly, anyways.....howdy distant relative!
