Mexico urges U.S. to consider legalizing drugs

Mexican President Felipe Calderon Hinojosa speaks during the 2011 Clinton Global Initiative meeting on September 20, 2011 in New York. Also attending the meeting were European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, Prime Minister of Grenada Tillman Thomas, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, South African President Jacob Zuma, Norweigian President Jens Stoltenberg, Prime Minister off Mali Cisse Mariam Kaidama and former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

SAO PAOLO/LOS ANGELES ? Felipe Calderon, the Mexican president, has hinted that the United States may have to consider legalizing drugs in order to weaken the powerful cartels that have wreaked havoc in his country.

In a speech in New York, Mr Calderon said the high demand for illegal drugs in the U.S. was a "key issue" and was "the most important source of power of the criminals".

"We are living in the same building. And our neighbour is the largest consumer of drugs in the world. And everybody wants to sell him drugs through our doors and our windows," he said.

The man is really boring when it comes to PR stunts... he should improve and I may even laugh a bit, just saying

But stay away from those that practice real compassion, because they will fry your ass, my friend."

Interesting timing for this little BS theatre. Clinton is so dirty on this whole scheme.

A little distraction from the earth shaking Palestinian issue happening at the UN today. I believe the US is presenting its pathetic excuse for being Israels lap dog.

Re: Mexico urges U.S. to consider legalizing drugs

Legalizing any kind of drug in the US will never happen. The US Government and the financial sector make WAY too much money off of drugs. Wall Street and the entire financial sector are hugely dependent on drug money. If drugs were to be legalized the markets would crash immediately. Citibank was and maybe still is the largest drug money laundering bank in the world. In fact I suppose it could be said that an even faster way to destroy the US economy would be to legalize drugs.

Catherine Austin Fitts, I believe, wrote the best work on the subject - "Narco dollars for Beginners". Find it here - http://solari.com/old-articles/scoop_narco_dummies.htm

Also for a particularly clear map of how the US Govt is involved in drugs, watch this excellent talk from Mike Ruppert - Part 1 of 11

I think if one is aware of ones iminent departure from this world and you have been sitting in that old folks home waiting to die for the past ten years i think one should be allowed free range to take somthing to brighten the remaing days left,
So legalise it for those oldies , as you will be one of them sooner or later.

Ok just my cranky idea as to why we should be allowed to go out with a smile , lol ,
