Viacom stands for ?Video and Audio Communication? ? and true to that name, the company owns a large number of cable and satellite television networks (the company was split from CBS Corporation in 2005, though both have the same majority owner).
In 2007, Viacom filed a $1 billion lawsuit against Google and YouTube for copyright infringement and recently a federal judge granted Viacom?s request for data of all YouTube users. The blogosphere has since called for a boycott of all Viacom properties ? so that means no MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon or ? gasp ? Comedy Central for you!

    2009 revenues: $13.6 billion
Viacom holdings include: MTV, Nickelodeon/Nick-at-Nite, VH1, BET, Comedy Central, Paramount Pictures, Paramount Home Entertainment, Atom Entertainment, and music game developer Harmonix. Viacom 18 is a joint venture with the Indian media company Global Broadcast news.

Re: Holdings of the Mainstream Media Cartels

I believe they made a game of it a while back with a JP Morgan fathead figurine ... Monopoly.

Funny thing about Monopoly ... all players lose everything except the one who wins. And the fatted winner triumphs by making his friends worthless and dependent on his personal charity. Irony. A great game for the virtual conqueror, indeed. But when ported into real life as is evidenced by Richard's exposee above, the virtual fun becomes a real conundrum ... will I have friends to back me in my time of need? All the big monied elites would be wise to reflect on the conundrum and see whether the conquest was worth it.

Re: Holdings of the Mainstream Media Cartels

The ultimate metaphor for corporate media's psychopathic value system is the program SURVIVOR. Every single inhumane and diabolical trick is factored into that program whereby the most pathologically driven individual survives - at the expense of everyone else. It would be fitting and appropriate if the program also showed the 'winners' all alone at the end, on a desert island - shunned and ostracized by others, as well such 'winners' should be.
