The ramp up is on. They will start throwing so much at the USA and the world very soon. We need to be on our toes, eyes and ears wide open and ready be ready to arrest and defend our freedom from these demon entities who want to control all of humanity.

I say NO WAY, DON'T YOU DARE DISRESPECT US. WE DEMAND OUR GOD GIVEN FREEDOMS AND OUR RIGHT UNDER DIVINE SOVERNITY TO REMAIN FREE TO CHOOSE TO HAVE A WONDERFUL LIFE WITH CLEAN AIR, CLEAN WATER, CLEAN FOOD.

Why's The Media Shafting Ron Paul, And Ignoring NDAA & SOPA Dangers?

    David Seaman
    Dec. 24, 2011

The American broadcast media's ongoing blackout of NDAA and SOPA -- and their race to marginalize GOP presidential front-runner Ron Paul -- suggests a level of moral bankruptcy in the press that is troubling, to say the least.

Even though President Obama is on vacation in Hawaii, NDAA sits on his desk, and could receive his signature via autopen at any moment -- certain hotly contested provisions within the NDAA would allow for the lifelong imprisonment of American citizens on US soil, by military force, without right to a trial, access to an attorney, and so forth -- yet the media isn't talking about it?

Similarly, SOPA has reached an advanced stage in Congress -- like a metastasizing deadly cancer -- and would allow for totalitarian-style censorship of US Internet content without trial. Even this article would be subject to removal under SOPA provisions. Yet the media isn't talking about it?

Look, you don't have to be a Ron Paul supporter. But you do have to see that the media plays a vicious game where it considers Iowa a major stepping stone in the path to the presidency, UNLESS someone they don't favor is the front-runner there (as is the case with Ron Paul's surging popularity). Now, all of a sudden, the pundits are crawling out from underneath their rocks to tell the American people that Iowa has become "irrelevant."

    Something is desperately wrong here.

Yes, you can argue that FOX News is owned by News Corporation -- which also owns the FOX television and movie studio. Yes, you can argue that CNN is owned by Time Warner -- which also owns the Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema movie studios.

Is this the reason why they are silent on SOPA? To protect their respective parent company's box office profits?

It's a tempting line of paranoia, but not convincing enough. Surely at least one or two producers at these networks must have a conscience? Surely they realize that totalitarian censorship, and detainment of Americans without giving them a trial, is fundamentally wrong? It goes beyond political affiliations or economic status: these bills affect every single American.

Someone please wake our media up before it's too late. Merry Christmas, by the way.

Re: Be a HERO and Help STOP SOPA Now!!

GoDaddy lost 72,354 domains this week. It's not enough.

    Godaddy-Logo-Edited.jpg

Despite a massive Twitter campaign and a blog post that claims “Go Daddy no longer supports SOPA legislation” the company and their CEO have dodged questions about opposing the bill. In essence, they are taking a lesser role by not showing support for the bill. They have not opposed it.

This week, they lost around 72,000 domain registrations. At a yearly discounted rate of $6.99 (most registrations are higher), that’s over half a million dollars per year. It is apparently not enough for them to speak out against the bill.

How many domains is the company willing to lose before they oppose this abomination of legislation? Do they believe that when they “step back and let others take leadership roles” that we are going to see it as something other than a “duck and cover” public relations move to try to get out of the spotlight and hope someone else takes the brunt of the attacks while they quietly support the bill?

Is 72,354 domains enough? Not even close. It’s a drop in the bucket. The have anywhere from 15,000 to 40,000 domains added daily. Despite cries from the internet, yesterday was a good day with over 32,000 added. Go Daddy has not felt much pain yet. The “PR nightmare” that many of us in the tech industry perceive is happening to them hasn’t hit their pocketbooks in any real form, yet.

Until the effect is more pronounced, they can afford to deflect questions and let the negative PR pass. More must be done.

Re: Be a HERO and Help STOP SOPA Now!!

GoDaddy not only helped write #SOPA they are also exempt from it. Scumbags.

UPDATE: This post is currently on Reddit’s front page. Thanks! I’m getting tons of views but not a lot of people are clicking through to the linked article. Be sure to go read it. Don’t just take my word. I’ve also been seeing comments around the internet about this issue which point out that GoDaddy is not specifically named as exempt in this bill. This is true, but that’s not what the article claims. It claims that companies like GoDaddy are exempted and that GoDaddy helped write it.

UPDATE 2: There is a little controversy and confusion in the comments section. The fact that GoDaddy helped write the law and the fact that they are exempt are not necessarily related. We don’t know that they wrote an exemption for themselves. Please don’t jump to conclusions. GoDaddy themselves just say, via their press release, that they helped redefine terms in the law and proposed limitations on DNS filtering, etc. I see where the confusion comes from. But please, read the article I sourced AND THAT ARTICLE’S SOURCES. Again, don’t take my word on any of this. Read things for yourself. It will be made much more clear. Honestly, this post is just blog spam that got lucky on Reddit. The original article that I linked to is what should have been posted to Reddit, but since it was me, I feel obligated to make sure as many people as possible actually read the source. Thanks!

You may have heard about the mass exodus of customers from GoDaddy due to their support of SOPA. You may have also heard that GoDaddy no longer supports SOPA. The problem is, only one of those things is true. While GoDaddy no longer publicly supports SOPA, that is just a PR move. They have not withdrawn official support for the bill, let alone actually come out in opposition to it. But it gets worse. According to [THIS ARTICLE], not only did GoDaddy help write the damn thing, they are also exempt from complying with the law!

Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO), the only member of Congress present at the hearing with any tech experience, having founded several web companies, introduced two amendments: one to exclude universities and non-profits from being subject do having to shut down their own domain servers if accused of piracy under SOPA, and the other to exempt dynamic IP addresses, such as those found on web-enabled printers. Both were voted down.

Polis pointed out that SOPA and Smith’s amendment already excluded certain operators of sub-domains, such as GoDaddy.com, from being subject to shutdowns under SOPA.

“If companies like GoDaddy.com are exempt, why aren’t non-commercial domain servers exempt?” Polis asked.

I was willing to forgive and forget if they actually changed sides and informed Congress of their official opposition to this bill. But they never will. They are too far in bed with the scumbags in Congress who are writing the bill. In my opinion GoDaddy is a lost cause. Let the boycott continue!
