Vertigo and Dizziness - Epley Manoeuvre it..

" Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) causes short episodes of vertigo (intense dizziness) when you move your head in certain directions. It it thought to be caused by tiny fragments of debris in the inner ear labyrinth. In many cases the condition clears away on its own after several weeks. A simple treatment of moving the head into various positions over a few minutes can cure the condition in many cases. This treatment uses gravity to move the debris away from where it is causing problems. "...http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Beni...al-Vertigo.htm

if your vertigo/dizziness/lightheadedness is benign, this is what you do...if the symptoms persist, means your inner ear may be seriously affected and you are best off visiting a specialist - who will probably try this on you first...

be careful to get it right - do follow the instructions closely.. l

Very interesting. I had this back in 2003. The strange things was that at the same time a lot of other people had it too. There was a rush on the clinics about it. Given this, I'm not always sure it's caused by stuff in the inner ear.

I had it for about two weeks. I couldn't really function with it. I spent a lot of time on the couch. Pretty much every time I moved my head the world would spin WAY faster.

Someone told me about large doses of B vitamin complex. So I started taking about 400mg of B-complex a day, it was gone in about 3 days.

I would be very careful with anything to do with the neck...

Well.. I swear by my chiropractor adjusting my neck. Too much sleeping in airplane seats has caused me problems. I won't let anybody else do that though, or any other chiropractor.

Yes, He is the former head of the Canadian Chiropractic federation and now chairs the world chiropractic federation. Which is sometimes a bit of a problem because now he is traveling more and is not as available all the time.

I have nothing but raves about what Chiropractic, especially this guy, has done for me. I have experienced almost instant and lasting results to strange conditions that normally would puzzle doctors. It's way more thatn just about back pain.

there is no neck pulling, maneovring...it's about gently moving your head...if you get it right it may help, if you don't get it right it won't harm...you need't have anyone do it for you - to pull your neck and/or mess things up...this is not chiro-practice....l

Yes, I know.. It is quite different from a Chiro neck adjustment. I guess I got a little off topic, I did not have any neck adjustments from the chiro at the time I had vertigo and I don't think I'd advocate it for this purpose. Adjustments DO help with the headaches I sometimes get from my neck being out, which is off topic.

But also I did not know about this little exercise, docs never told me about it, they likely didn't know. I definitely would have tried it had i known. Now that I know about it, I'll remember it. But the B vitamins really helped though.

i've no doubt your local consultant head and neck surgeon would know it and probably perform it on you before referring you for an mri scan for thorough investigation...surely it's always best to consult a specialist...general parctitioners would do the same i think - refer you to your local ent/head and neck consultant surgeon l
