Public assistance pulled from lottery winner

A Michigan woman who won the lottery but continued to receive food assistance from the state government has had her benefits pulled, officials said. Amanda Clayton hit it big playing the Michigan Lottery. Like many winners, she used her $1 million prize to buy a new house.
But the Lincoln Park, Michigan, resident continued to receive money in another form -- $200 a month in state food assistance, according to CNN Detroit affiliate WDIV.
Her story made headlines, and on Thursday, the state's Department of Human Services announced that she is no longer getting the benefits.

So yea, woman wins a big fat million and still thinks she should be on programs designed for the destitute.

Of course, after buying her 'new house' and 'new car', this idiot is probably close to being just as broke as she was BEFORE she won the money. Typical Americans have zero fiscal sense. They're consumers, through and through and will consume everything they touch, and then wonder why they have no money.

well.. what i fail to see is why this is a story ..or a big story.. this is tabloid/ late night talk show humor ...not deserving of a place right next to obama trying to have isreal wait untill after the election to attack iran ..

or the administration thinking it just need international approval to us the Us millitary around the world and forget congress ...in the process ..

I link things like this, almost for humour value. As this is somehow considered mainstream 'news'. In fact it was on the front page of CNN this morning, which is how I found it. Not buried 20 stories deep.

It's part of the distraction paradigm.

But on the other hand, scuzzballs like this DO tend to tick me off...

she won a million and paid what 400-500k in taxes ..

someone who sees themselves as poor will be poor again no matter how much money gets given to them..

i read quite a story a while back of one guy who was on an nba championship team..a year or two after he left the nba..he was washing cars for a living trying not to scratch the paint with his ring..it was all he had left ..

i personaly mark a difference.. i am broke ..i may look poor but i am broke.. i can do something about being broke.. poor if a different thing ..
