This weeks topic , March 16th 2012: Non Duality and New Age BS

As we slip into another weekend , our voices gather once again.

Going by, Vajrayaya and seismorg have offered to join in this week.

There are plenty more seats at the ... round table...lol


I choose a topic this week that had several people nominating it to me.

Over coming Duality , seems is a very important step for many of us.

There have been some very interesting POV's brought to light in this thread that I would like to showcase.

Questions and conversations are welcome... keep them flowing.

Here are some tips for large group skype conversations

1- If you are not talking, keep your mic on mute. It helps to keep distortion and background noise down

2- Try to get your point across in 2 to 5 minutes long (depending on topic and situation etc). This allows other voices to question you on the information you are sharring as well as share their POV.

3- Do not have the live show playing in any tabs, while you are in the group conversation.

Its a great idea.. all are welcome.

Im sure he is aware of the show.. we have asked in the past and he has declined, politely.

But his voice is echoed in what we have learned from his thread

Some questions:

Isn't duality an important part of our reality? Should it be "overcome"?

Is aiming for non-duality an achievable and purposeful goal?

Is it enough to achieve awareness of how our minds tend to automatically lump reality into dual terms (good/bad, black/white, awake/asleep, dual/non-dual). And aren't many of those distinctions are very helpful (when not taken at face value)?

When people talk about "no good or bad" (no duality at all), do you think they may be overshooting, when all that is really needed is awareness of the power of overly-simplistic dualistic framing of reality to manipulate us? And our own tendency to frame the world this way without thinking more deeply about things?
