Man who came to liquor store with law enforcement badge identified as legitimate liquor control employee – CBS Los Angeles

VICTORVILLE (CBSA) – Authorities said Sunday that a person initially suspected of impersonating a police officer in Victorville turned out to be a legitimate Alcohol Beverage Control employee.

The incident first unfolded at Joe’s Liquor on Green Tree Boulevard just before 8:20 p.m. on March 10. This is where the deputies responded to a report of a person entering the establishment claiming to be an officer.

When deputies arrived, they were informed that an individual had entered the premises claiming to be a city police officer and stating that he was there to verify the business permit. The individual had a badge that resembled a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department badge, according to the witness.

After the individual spoke about the city changing the location’s business license, the individual left the area on foot.

Deputies investigating the incident have since learned that the individual was not posing as an officer, but was in fact a legitimate CBA employee. In addition, it was discovered that the individual was at the scene for professional reasons.
