The Eagles crush the Devils | News, Sports, Jobs


LISBON — Tori Firth drove in eight runs with three hits and had two hits in United’s 14-1 win over Lisbon in five innings on Tuesday.

Firth sparked the Golden Eagles’ six-run outburst in the second inning with a long three-run homer. She also doubled, singled and scored two runs.

Samantha Lippiatt had two doubles, a single and an RBI, Taylor Cope had three singles, three runs and an RBI, Colby Burton had a triple and a single and Joshlynn Irey had a single and an RBI.

The Eagles improve to 2-1 on aggregate and 2-0 in the Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference – both wins over Lisbon. The Blue Devils go 3-2 this season.

Justyce Vrable selected and scored Lisbon’s run. Mya Emmerling also doubled in the fourth set.

Both teams are due to play today as Lisbon host East Palestine and United visit Lake Center Christian.

COLUMBIANA – Ava Davanzo had one brace, three hits and five RBIs as Columbiana dropped Leetonia 17-0 in five innings on Tuesday.

Columbiana is 2-2.

Tori Long added a double, a single and three RBIs.

Alaina Johnston had three hits and two RBIs. Cameron Perkins had a single, a double and two RBIs.

Long and Davanzo combined on a hit.

Both teams are playing again today in Leetonia.

SALEM — Marlington came away with a 27-5 win over Salem on Tuesday in Buckeye Eastern Conference action.

Channing Toy was 2 for 2 for the Quakers. Lauryn Barton added two hits and an RBI. Rylie Troy also had two hits. Mack Zumbar had a brace and two RBIs.

Salem (2-3) hosts Akron Springfield today.

Weirton Madonna 16, East Liverpool 6

EAST LIVERPOOL – Weirton Madonna beat East Liverpool 16-6 in five sets on Tuesday.

Ally Laughlin and Grace Parker had two singles and a double each for the winners.

South Range vs. Niles

GREENFORD – South Range won a pair of games against Niles on Tuesday in the Northeast 8 game.

In Game 1, Range won 19-1 in four sets.

Madison Dado, Julie Stachowicz, Kelly Szolek and Reagan Irons each had two hits for the winners.

In Game 2, the Raiders won 12-0 in three sets.

Samantha Susany and Irons combined for the no-hitter.

Susany and Irons also had two hits apiece.

South Range is 3-0 and will travel to Mrtyle Beach starting Monday.
